·         Making use of Independent Learning

o   Research and plan resources needed/available for students to use

·         Designing the Independent Learning task

o   Directed – the task is more specific

o   Non-directed – task is less specific and vaguely explained

§  For an assignment it is important to know what the tasks are. A step by step approach for handing out an assignment is more ideal.

·         Self Assessment

o   Ensure that students are able to evaluate their skills and how they can achieve their goals

o   Assess them on how they achieve them

·         Resources

o   It is important that your students have research to help plan an assignment

·         Monitoring

o   Tutorials/portfolio time

§  Keeping track of what the students are doing. This helps the teacher pick up on any mistakes
